Ryde Across America, Part II
Old No. 9
I realize that none of you have heard from me in more than a month. That's because of two things: For one, I was off in New Zealand for three weeks, leading my annual tour down there, and for the other, my Spyder has been back at the BRP headquarters in Quebec for the past six weeks. "Old No. 9" was the oldest of the original prototype RTs to have not yet undergone all the updates in hardware and software that were produced between the prototype stage and the actual production stage - mostly because I never let it sit still long enough - so my trip out of the country gave BRP the perfect opportunity to bring it "up to snuff."
Daytona, Here I Come
Anyway, now that both of us are ready to roll again, I have decided to once again take off on a "Spyder Ryde Across America." this time launching from Bike Week in Daytona Beach, Florida. Old No. 9 is right now being shipped from Quebec down to Daytona with BRP's demo fleet, and I will fly into town on March 3 to pick her up. We will spend the week with the BRP display, meeting with other Spyder enthusiasts, then take off on Monday, March 8, for yet another 4,000-mile romp across the country.
Let's Meet!
Because of the time of year, I will be sticking pretty much to Southern routes, and plan on taking about 10-12 days to cross the continent. That would be approximately March 8-20, traveling through Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Other states might be included, mostly contingent on developing weather patterns in the region. Anyway, if you know of any Spyder or motorcycle club meetings, rides or events in that general area and time frame that I might be able to attend, please let me know. Just write to me at Fred@fredrau.com with the details, and I will attempt to work it into my schedule. No event is too small. Heck, if it's just you, and you want to ride with me for a day, or meet up for lunch or dinner, let me know. Obviously, I won't be able to accept all invitations, but I will do my best.
I will carry my laptop, and try to keep you updated on my progress - where I go and who I meet.
